In times of tragedy, children are the most affected. Baseball and softball can help to restore a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos.
PIFB’s first project was with two Little League programs in Biloxi, Mississippi that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Disaster relief programs are ingrained into the fabric of this organization, still being our most impactful effort and our chance to bring some normalcy to kids in times of tragedy. Over the past decade, PIFB has helped to rebuild entire leagues and thousands of kids to start their seasons on time. PIFB has assisted with relief efforts in NY/NJ shoreline following Hurricane Sandy; Joplin, MO; the Gulf Coast region; and Japan.
Late August and early September 2017 brought some of the largest and most destructive hurricanes the Atlantic has ever seen. Hurricanes Harvey and Irma in particular devastated Texas and Florida, displacing thousands and destroying fields and equipment of many leagues, including some PIFB has helped previously. Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico not long after. PIFB & PIFS will be helping as many kids as we can to get back on the field for their fall and/or spring seasons.
